Frequently Asked Questions About Therapy
Many people have general questions about what therapy truly is, how to begin, and if it will fix all of your problems. Here is my attempt to help answer some of those questions.
What if therapy doesn't fix "it?"
It's ok! It might not, or at least might not right away. Therapy is an investment and often it can be slow, tough work. But you are worth the shot. You are worth the time, the money, the investment. You are worth having all you were made to have-- and finding out what that is.
How does scheduling work?
I initially recommend weekly to biweekly sessions. I compare it to the gym: going once a month in the beginning certainly does not hurt anyone, but I'm not sure that it does much of anything either. :)
What is therapy though?
Irvin Yalom once said, "When people don't have any curiosity about themselves, that's always a bad sign."
Therapy is a space where you can come to do just that: be curious. Whether it is about yourself, about others, about your past, about your future, about your pain... the time that you take to invest in becoming more curious and more aware will not be wasted.
Therapy, of course, is not the only pathway to healing. But it often can provide shelter for those in need of building a roadmap back to themselves, to others, and even to God.
How much does it cost?
The fee for a 50-minute session is $160.
Do you take insurance?
I do not. However, while I am not in-network with any insurance companies, many insurance plans provide out of network mental health coverage. For clients that wish to use their insurance and have out of network coverage, I can provide statements they can submit to their insurance companies for partial reimbursement. If you are unsure if you have out-of-network benefits, I recommend calling your insurance company directly.
*Filing a claim is the client’s responsibility & insurance reimbursements are subject to your individual plan and benefits
